An Operating System is the fundamental software that manages a PC. It takes care of the way your hardware functions, the communication with peripherals for instance a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between all the applications, and the prioritization of apps when multiple ones run at the same time. Every program that is installed on a desktop or a notebook functions by sending requests to the OS for different services by using an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be achieved using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the hosting world, the Operating System is what controls a web hosting server along with any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application such as a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to choose from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they are also considered to be among the most stable and safe OSs. We provide three different ones for the reason that each one of them is backed by a different community. The packages which you can add on your hosting server are different and this could matter if you want to install some piece of software with specific requirements for the hosting environment. In this light, the hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you will pick. You can select any of the three Operating Systems throughout the order process, however if necessary, we can always set up the server once again with a different one upon your request. As an additional service that you can add to the package whenever you want, we can update your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
