The NS (Name Server) records of a domain show which DNS servers are authoritative for its zone. Essentially, the zone is the collection of all records for the domain, so when you open a URL within a browser, your computer asks the DNS servers globally where the domain name is hosted and from which servers the DNS records for the domain name must be retrieved. That way a web browser finds out what the A or AAAA record of the domain name is so that the latter is mapped to an Internet protocol address and the website content is requested from the proper location, a mail relay server discovers which server manages the e-mails for the domain name (MX record) so that a message can be delivered to the right mailbox, etc. Any change of these sub-records is done through the company whose name servers are employed, so that you can keep the website hosting and change only your email provider for example. Each and every domain has no less than two NS records - primary and secondary, which start with a prefix like NS or DNS.

NS Records in Shared Website Hosting

The avant-garde Hepsia Control Panel, included with with our shared website hosting packages, allows you to manage the name servers of each domain registered through our company with simply a few clicks, so even if you have never had a hosting plan or a domain name before, you simply won't encounter any troubles. The Domain Manager tool, which is a part of Hepsia, features a very user-friendly interface and it will permit you to modify the NS records of any domain name or even a number of domains simultaneously. We also give you the ability to set up child name servers dns1.your-domain.com and dns2.your-domain.com for every domain name registered in the account just as easily and all you need for that is a pair of IPs - either ours, if you'll use the child NS to point the domain name to the account on our cloud platform, or the ones of the third-party provider if you'll use the new records to point the domain address to their system. Unlike other providers, we don't charge extra for providing this additional DNS management service.

NS Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you register a new domain within a semi-dedicated server account or transfer an existing one from another registrar provider, you'll be able to update its NS records as needed without any issues even if you haven't had a domain address of your own before. The process takes a couple of clicks in Hepsia - the user-friendly administration tool, included with our semi-dedicated packages. If you have a number of domain addresses inside the account, you will be able to update all of them at the same time, which could save you a great deal of time and clicks. Also you can see with ease the name servers which a domain uses and if they're the correct ones or not in order for the domain address to be pointed to the account that you have on our sophisticated cloud hosting platform. Hepsia will also enable you to set up private name servers under any domain registered within the account and use them not just for that domain, but also for every other one that you would like to direct to our cloud platform.
