Launched in 2001, the .NAME domain name extension is the single TLD planned for personal web pages only. These domain names can include personal or fictional names, aliases and/or other designations people are famous by. Initially, only third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to obtain john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already taken third-level names remained operational.

You will be able to switch the WHOIS contact details, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you obtain its EPP transfer authorization key from the present registrar company and we will renew it when the transfer has been done. There are no specific prerequisites on who can book a .NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the goal behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
